If someone gets you fired by a FALSE hearsay, accusation, can I sue that person for lost wages, P&S etc?

A person called ';harassment'; on me over a phone call BUT they lied and said that I said all kinds of ';bad'; stuff, which was hearsay of course BUT I was fired anyway over the ONE incident I was ';alleged'; to have committed as per this idiots lies...Do I have a civil case against them for lost ';projected'; income and pain and suffering etc over the lost job because of this person, solely? Please don't write back with stupid stuff ok?..This is serious and I NEED to know so I can set a precedence against these people who lie and get away with it...It needs to stop in the workplace! thanks!!!!If someone gets you fired by a FALSE hearsay, accusation, can I sue that person for lost wages, P%26amp;S etc?
you really dont undestand the meaning of hearsay..... if this person is accusing YOU of harassment and saying ';bad things to HER'; then she heard these things directly from YOU (true or not thats for the judge to decide.), if she heard these things from a third party then THEIR statement of THEM telling HER about what YOU said to THEM (the third party) would be hearsay.

you dont have a case, especially if your working establishment was is in an ';at will'; state. If someone gets you fired by a FALSE hearsay, accusation, can I sue that person for lost wages, P%26amp;S etc?
Short answer is no. However you may be able to claim punitive damages from your employer. I'd contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
You misunderstand the meaning of ';hearsay.'; As to the rest, some states and countries recognize a tort called ';intentional interference with prospective economic relations.'; Whether a particular act would be considered tortious will vary by state and country but you don't describe enough to constitute a tort anywhere. There is also the law of slander and the damages could include lost wages. If you want to know if you have any chance of any lawsuit, consult a lawyer in your community who knows the laws of your state or country and can ask you the hundreds of other questions he would need to know in order to give a valid opinion.
It's not ';hearsay'; if they claim you actually said it. It is ';hearsay'; if they report it as heard from somene ELSE who (allegedly) heard it from you. But if it is simply a lie, it doesn't matter where they came up with it; if they said it to ANYONE else, it is slander.

Anyway, you CERTAINLY have a claim for slander, which has damaged your reputation, perhaps ';tortious interference with contract'; (your employment), and ';intentional infliction of emotional distress'; (outrageous conduct that has made you physically ill). The amount of damages can be determined by the court (such as the cost of finding another job, the intentional infliction of emotional distress, etc).
